Ciaccona Made Easy

How to Practice Bach's D minor Ciaccona

I always tell my students: It's only as hard as you make it.

The Ciaccona is a prime example of this concept. It's beautifully complex, profound pieces that requires intelligence, stamina and incredible understanding ofmusical dept. But how hard is it pedagogically?

Rather than jumping straight into practicing notes, let's break it down to edible and digestible parts. Then we can go over the skills required for each phrase, how to execute them with good practice, and go over how to navigate through this incredible 15-minute movement of the D minor Solo Partita together.

My hope is that, by the end of this session, all of my students (and anyone watching this class) will have a clear roadmap for approaching the piece with confidence and purpose from practice to performance.
